Mount Ida Rental Services
Rent Space for a Public or Private Event
Mount Ida Preservation Hall offers four unique spaces for rent: the Sanctuary, Community Hall, Kitchen, and Lawn. Each space is available to individuals and organizations on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited availability for recurring use. Space may be rented for private or public functions. We prioritize events that reflect our mission—performing arts, skills training, support groups, markets, and neighborhood-focused gatherings—and especially welcome those based in the Mount Ida community.
As part of our Community Rental Program, renters are empowered to host their own events with full responsibility for setup, cleanup, promotion, and logistics. To ensure a respectful and safe experience, renters must complete a brief orientation, sign a use agreement, and provide a refundable deposit. Alternatively, MIPA staff may be hired to support the set-up of your event in lieu of the orientation.
This low-barrier model allows Mount Ida to remain a true community resource while minimizing staff involvement and enabling consistent, affordable access to space. Our goal is to create a self-sustaining, community-powered venue that is accessible and useful to all. Please keep in mind, unless you rent the entire building or exclusive use. Other spaces may be rented by others.
Rental pricing is designed to cover upkeep while remaining affordable:
- Sanctuary: $150 for 2 hours, $75/hr thereafter, $400 for full day
- Community Hall: $100 for 2 hours, $50/hr thereafter, $300 for full day
- Kitchen: $80 for 2 hours, with rates as low as $10/hr for long-term agreements.
- Lawn: $50 for 2 hours, $20/hr thereafter, $200 for full day
- Staff set-up/breakdown: $200/event
- Full Venue/Exclusive use of the Space: $600 (Rehearsal time on 2 separate days is included)
Rentals have a 2-hour minimum, and the duration must account for clean-up and break-down. As a nonprofit, we’re open to negotiation if cost is a barrier—reach out and we’ll do our best to make it work. To inquire or reserve space, contact us via email, Facebook, or Instagram or submit a rental form. We recommend reaching out at least 30 days in advance of your event. Each space has its own character—read more below.
The Sanctuary
The sanctuary is best for accommodating performances, markets, or banquets. The space can be heated in colder weather, and high ceilings and windows allow for moderately below outside temperatures in the summer. The natural acoustics of the arches are great for unamplified music or lectures, amplified music will sound great too. Thick walls and waterfall in our backgrounds keeps sound from leaving the building.

and a conventional oven and stove top. The space is a shared kitchen, new bookings must be compatible with existing contracts for use of the kitchen.
